“Storm” (1982)

“Storm” is one of Prueitt’s computer generated line drawings. In his book Art and the Computer, he describes this line drawing series, with specific reference to this piece. He writes, “we note that many of the lines are drawn close together while others are widely separated…We see some lines beginning to march off toward infinity.” This technique serves this piece by creating a sense of space. Although the image is comprised entirely of lines, we can identify different surfaces. While this technique had been around for centuries, this is one of the first times an artist is using it in computer generated art. Much of the work I make is heavily reliant on lines, so I appreciate Prueitt’s images and the writing that accompanies them.
