I’m excited by the Virtual Reality project ‘Tiltbrush’, which enables you to draw/sketch with controllers. Here is a video of its use by the Disney artist Glen Keane.

I was wowed by the playfulness, energy and wonder with which Glen created the strokes with the controllers. It gives such a different sense of ‘owning’ your sketch. You begin to think about physical 3 dimensional space, and move around to see different views of it, almost like a sculptor.

I was disappointed with the lack of interactivity once the drawing was complete. Something that I’ve noticed about interactive displays is that they are never one dimensional. There is always something more you get out of it, whether it is by pondering for more time, or taking a different view of it.

The app works on HTC Vive.
