For my map visualization, I plotted each hotel, and color-coded them so national boundaries could emerge. The map is tilt-, zoom-, and pan-able, so the data can be explored.

When I plotted the points originally, some of the data looked weird. Why were there two different colors representing American hotels? This pattern was visible elsewhere, too.

I thought I had discovered some amazing pattern about foreign hotel ownership or something, but upon further inspection of the data, I realized that the second color represented hotels without a country listed in the csv. Womp womp.

For the final version, I colored all points without a given country value white, so they’re still kind of visible if you look for them, but not immediately.
